Why did you choose your pen name?
My very first published piece of fanfic was actually penned under a different name--bardzlife--which was a direct nod to the XWP fandom. Since the piece was an XWP story, it made sense.
However, when I began to branch out into new fandoms--primarily ST:VOY--I decided to change my penname to something that was a more subtle hommage to the fandom. DiNovia is a bastardized form of "of nine" in Italian. This was an hommage to my favorite character to write, Seven of Nine, and also an hommage to my favorite historical personnage, Leonardo da Vinci. Also, my favorite language to speak is Italian.
Since my ST:VOY days, I have branched out even further in my fandoms, recently adding Law & Order:SVU to the mix (primarily Casey/Oliva, which is proving to be more popular now than it was this time last year) and CSI: Las Vegas (Sara/Sofia).
Right now the two pieces that I am most proud of are Diamonds and Rust, a Casey/Olivia SVU piece that posits what would happen if Alex Cabot came back 10 years after the episode "Ghost", expecting things to be just as she left them; and The Awakening, another Casey/Olivia SVU piece that takes place around Casey's family's Thanksgiving dinner table.
I have my eye on a few more pairings/fandoms, but so far, only for reading.
I'm also hoping to begin publishing some short original works this year and perhaps a children's book.
